It's nice to share good news about your buddies. So here goes.
In the new edition of New York magazine, Gabrio's De Vino has been named the Best Wine Shop in the LES. Since the LES is hardly a wine desert, it's a terrific honor for a guy whose shop's only been open a couple of years. Here's the link to the article.
And here is an excerpt from the magazine's writeup:
"Gabrio Tosti has the perfect pedigree [editor's note: and he is a count after all] to run a wine shop: For five years he introduced New Yorkers to indigenous Italian varietals and obscure blends at Il Posto Accanto, the cozy wine-bar annex of his sister Beatrice’s beloved restaurant, Il Bagatto."
Let me add that though De Vino is a small shop, the wines are very carefully selected and reasonably priced. Mostly Italian, yes, but he's selected interesting and well-made wines from a large number of countries, including Israel, Argentina, US, Australia, etc. By the way, I like Il Bagatto but I love il Posto Accanto -- perfect wine bar atmosphere, good selection by the glass, and the food's excellent too. (They need to reinstitute tasting flights, though.)
Auguri, Gabrio!

Too kind!
Thank you Terry

Bravo Gabrio! I promise to visit your shop when I get there (I've planned to do so within the end of this autumn). Ciao Fede
