I got to Amboise in the Loire valley a couple of hours ago. That in itself was something of a miracle. I had almost no sleep in a very uncomfortable Air France seat. I drove for 2 mind-numbing hours in beltway traffic around Paris, progressing about 10 miles. This stage of the trip was like being in Queens but the area wasn't so grimy and beaten down.
As we approached the last quarter of our car ride of 4+ hours, I fell asleep several times at the wheel. And the entrance to the tres quaint hotel is tres narrow. Legal counsel advises me to say nothing.
Still, here we are at a cafe having a glass of beer and wine (no Huet here, baby). The people are friendly, the weather is gorgeous and the town is of course perfect. A nice start to les petites vacances before hitting the road in Italy.
A toute a l'heure.
