Ah me, I am in Rome and I am bitching again. Not about the Romans, who are charming in their world-weary way but about the dismal state of wi-fi even in "international" hotels like the Excelsior. Thus am I reduced to dancing with my thumbs.
BTW, before I continue, I will say that we are paying one-tenth the rack rate, far less when you consider the pathetic state of the USD. More like one-twentieth. This is a personal endorsement of the Starwood frequent flopper program. AND the air conditioning works, sort of.
Before I continue TheLastItalianWineMemoirYoullEverNeedtoRead, I have to make this observation about the Starwood Luxury Group in Italy. Given the general state of physical disrepair in these properties, is Starwood planning to dump them, hence no further investment? Or is it simply a matter of tight money and a lousy business climate, along with the terrible exchange rate?
It's hard to say. But it is irksome, especially when you are trying to get things done on the Internets. (Cue to smile wryly, or is it wrily?)
Hell, kids, me thumbs are already tuckered. Must post PART 3: I SELL MY PASSION later.
Time to go round Rome and get bathed in sweat.
