We received a heart-breaking email from one of our producers this morning. Because of the state of the Italian economy, not to mention the credit shocks around the world, she has been forced to sell her organic/biodynamic farm to a bigger group. In the sale will go her wine inventories as well.
This lady and her husband made huge financial sacrifices, uprooted themselves from a fairly comfortable life in Rome and sought something clean and revitalizing in the unspoiled, cold-weather zone around Monte Amiata in southern Tuscany.
I won't divulge any more till I get her permission to review our delight in her and her family, and in her wines. The sad irony is that her top red wine was beginning to win some praise and would, I think, have eventually become a good niche seller. Eventually being the fatal word. Heaven can wait but creditors cannot.

jeeze, that's sad!
