Still suffer from what Italians call "fuso orario." It means "time zone" but in the context of travel it means "jet lag.". Drove 6 hours through mad weather from Florence to Citta' S. Angelo, which is near Pescara. It was spring in Tuscany, tra-la, and hard-bitten winter in Abruzzo. We could see hravy snows hitting the higher peaks, patches of snow all around us, and low clouds and foschia (mist) obscuring our way past Pescara.
So much for the weather report, enduring obsession of New Englanders wherever they may be.
So a couple of high points on this quick trip to now:
- Last night we stayed in a medieval castle! With all the mod cons. And lots of good wine and merry company. At Castello di Poppiano, the ancestral home of (Count) Ferdinando Guicciardini (ancestors duly mentioned by Dante, one was a fast friend of Machiavelli) and his lively, warm Contessa, "Titi."
I'd show you a couple of pix but I don't have WiFi. Of course.
In Abruzzo we'll meet with several producers 'twixt now and Friday, then home - I hope after the snow's melted. To answer the people who commented on my penultimate post, I was hungry and jetlagged! I knee I wasn't getting a great meal! I didn't care! I was happy to be back in Italy! And Andrea, your place was closed.
Allora...everything is fine except for that super-annoying game show host with the perpetual tan, glasses and smamry manner who they play way too loud in local cafes and restos. What's with that schmuck and his big attraction over here?
Buona notte, carissimi.

Castello di Poppiano is truly lovely. I spent some time with their export manager recently, nice wines. They also have a great Morellino di Scansano. Not sure if you got to taste it. We'll miss you at 3 Bicchieri but surely you are there in spirit. Very funny about Mr. Tan. :)Avvinare
