Locuzione molto frequente, significando "dovere", "essere costretto a" e simile.
Pronuncia: hèv tu. Spesso va pronunciato hèfda in lingua informale. E come scherzo va scritto "hafta" (presente) e "hadda" (passato).
"Oh, do you have to go? We've been having so much fun."
Oh, devi andare? Ci divertivamo tanto.
"I don't want to. But I have to."
Non voglio. Ma debbo.
"We had to leave the dog behind when we moved."
Eravamo costretti a lasciare indietro il cane quando ci traslocammo.
When I think about the poor dog that was left behind, I feel like I hafta cry.
