It's what Eric Asimov's tasting panel concluded, and it rocks the entire wine world. I can imagine that even in the Antipodes, far from the traditions of Pilgrims and Squanto, the wine folk are buzzing about it today. The single most incriminating line of the story is a caption that says, "Finding good Thanksgiving wines may be a lot easier than you think."
This admission throws years of seasonal punditry and diatribes into doubt -- nay, casts them into the Dustbin of History. Whether you realize it now or not, ladies and gentlemen, mere chaos has just been loosed on the world.
To gauge reactions to this revelation, I managed to track down -- more exactly, to twitter down -- some of the wine cosmos' most important luminaries at their watering hole and wallow pond in London. I asked them point-blank what they thought of this radical idea. Out of respect for them and their power in the marketplace, I hesitate to publish their unvarnished responses -- not because they are shocking but because they appear shockingly unwilling to grapple with what appears to be a Paradigm Shift. But, as a serious investigative wine journalist -- or blogger, same thing -- I feel it is my duty to do so.
